COURSE SUMMARY

The CHC43015 Certificate IV in Ageing Support will help you achieve your career goals. Aged Care is one of Australia’s fastest-growing industry sectors due to a rapidly ageing population.

This program is designed for those who are already working in and have studied in the aged care sector.

The qualification will prepare you to provide support and care for ageing clients. You will gain the skills required to assess the needs of ageing clients with complex needs. You will learn how to work within defined organisation guidelines and to develop, facilitate and monitor individual service plans. It will prepare you for a supervisory or team leader role in the aged care industry.

If you identify you already have some or all of the skills required for a unit, and you can demonstrate these skills, you will be offered the opportunity to speak with ET Australia’s Assessor about Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) process.

Successful completion of the CHC43015 Certificate IV in Ageing Support can lead to a range of potential career opportunities, including Care Team Leader, High Performing Personal Care Assistant, Program Coordinator and Care Supervisor.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

Students must be employed in the aged care industry and supported by an aged care organisation/facility to ensure access for application of learning and for assessment purposes. Students must have the opportunity to complete assessment activities, which include team leader activities, in the workplace.

For entry into this program applicants will require adequate language, literacy and numeracy skills that allow them to read and interpret information, understand training, demonstrate leadership skills as well as provide and follow clear instructions, and prepare written assignments and documents for assessment. In addition sound computer skills are required, computers will be used to assist with completion of assessment work (eg using the internet to undertake research activities).

All applicants are required to complete an application form and must attend an interview for selection into the program.  Interviews are conducted with each applicant to determine their suitability for the program and to ensure the program meets their career aspirations.

There are no formal entry requirements for CHC43015 Certificate IV in Ageing Support, however, we are looking for students who: 

  • are currently working in aged care and;
  • have at least one year’s industry experience and;
  • have previously completed a CHC33015 Certificate III in Individual Support or CHC30212 Certificate III in Aged Care qualification (students who have previously completed one of these qualifications will be eligible to apply for Recognition of Prior Learning)
STUDY PATHWAYS

Students who successfully complete this qualification could progress their studies to Diploma of Enrolled Nursing / registered nursing qualifications.

STUDY MODES

Study modes for this qualification include:
Self-paced learning – Allows learners the flexibility to study at times that are suitable. Learners can work through learning material independently knowing that a dedicated Trainer and Assessor will guide them through the training and assessment process and be available for support when required. This mode of study suits students who have good time management skills and who don’t need structured face to face sessions. Access to a workplace is needed for successful completion of this qualification.

Employment based traineeship – An employment based traineeship allows for delivery on the job with a Trainer and Assessor conducting workplace monitoring and assessment. Duration – 24 months full time (part time traineeships also available). If a trainee holds a CHC33015 Certificate III in Individual Support (Ageing) the traineeship term is reduced to 18 months.
