Funding is available now for students and businesses to recover from the COVID pandemic.
Did you know that both the federal and state Governments have committed funds for staff and student training as part of their economic recovery plan?
The funding available benefits both students or staff to train and upskill, and businesses alike.
Skilling for Recovery – for Students
Under the NSW Government’s Skilling for Recovery initiative more than 100,000 people across NSW will have the opportunity to reskill for jobs of the future.
The Skilling for Recovery initiative will provide fee-free full and part qualification training places to students who may otherwise have had to pay a fee.
The program will assist job seekers who are wanting to re-train or upskill, it will support school leavers who are entering the workforce and it will assist people who are currently employed by a business but at risk of becoming unemployed.
To be eligible for Skilling for Recovery funded full qualifications, a student must:
- Meet the eligibility criteria for Smart and Skilled (i.e. 15 years old or over, no longer at school, living or working in NSW and an Australian citizen, Australian permanent resident, humanitarian visa holder or New Zealand citizen)
AND
Meet one of the Skilling for Recovery eligibility categories identified below:
- Youth 17-24 (currently employed or unemployed)
- Commonwealth benefit recipient
- Unemployed (not in receipt of Commonwealth benefit)
- People expected to become unemployed
Courses available at ET Australia Training College under Skilling for Recovery include:
- BSB20115 Certificate II in Business
- BSB30115 Certificate III in Business
- BSB30415 Certificate III in Business Administration
- CHC33015 Certificate III in Individual Support (ageing or disability specialisations are available)

Supporting Apprenticeship and Traineeship Commencements – for Businesses
As part of the Australian Government’s economic recovery plan, they are providing support to all employers who engage a new Australian Trainee.
Any business or Group Training Organisation that engages an Australian Apprentice or Trainee on or after 5 October 2020 may be eligible for a subsidy of 50 per cent of wages paid to an apprentice between 5 October 2020 and 30 September 2021, to a maximum of $7,000 per quarter.
Employers should contact an Australian Apprenticeship Support Network Provider by going to australianapprenticeships.gov.au to find out further information on how to apply for the subsidy, including information on eligibility.
The subsidy has been capped at 100,000 places, so if you are an employer who has been considering taking on a Trainee there has never been a better time, however, you will need to act fast to make the most of the opportunity.

Hi, my son is currently 16 and in year 10 of Henry Kendal High. He has had bad anxiety since his dad past away last year and is finding it challenging in normal school. He is wishing to attend ET instead to continue his studies. What can we do ?
